Not only do Merit Shops provide a wealth of resources and benefits that help create more jobs and bring more projects to your local communities, but they also give back to their communities—enriching lives and providing opportunities. Below are just a few ways the Associated Builders and Contractors helps local communities:
ABC CaresABC Cares Foundation responds to emergent needs by reducing the financial burden often associated with sickness, injury, and death. The Foundation partners with other nonprofits to serve local communities, often pooling resources in the form of in-kind donations from construction industry partners.
Young Professionals Group
ABC’s Young Professionals (YP) program aims to shape the future of our industry by supporting the growth of young professionals employed by ABC members. The program creates opportunities for young leaders to build relationships, expand their skills, and advance their careers while continuing to promote open competition and the merit shop philosophy.
Grit Leads to Greatness Tour
ABC holds “The Grit Leads to Greatness Tour,” where they visit local elementary schools. The teacher or literacy team will read the “Grit Leads to Greatness” book, and members and alumni volunteers will dress in PPE and answer questions about their trade.
