The 700-acre Mueller community, a redevelopment of the former Robert Mueller Municipal Airport, is an award-winning, master-planned urban village in central east Austin just three miles from downtown Austin. Designed to be a transit-oriented and pedestrian-friendly model of new urbanism and sustainability—the Mueller community has accomplished this feat and beyond.
Within the Mueller community, Bergelectric is in the final stages of completing the Mueller Bravo building—a 235,000 sq., six-story Class A office building with retail space on the ground floor and an adjacent parking garage. The project aims to achieve a LEED Silver certification upon completion.
Bergelectric’s team had to remain dynamic, managing delayed switchgear lead times and utility plans during the project. Temporary power, for instance, was brought in from an adjacent building as an alternative to keep the project moving forward.
Bergelectric’s in-house BIM Department was utilized throughout the project along with TopCon Total Station technology for pinpoint accurate layout. Their expertise became vital, especially during the deck layout coordination at the project’s beginning phases.
Bergelectric’s team relied heavily on their suppliers for storage and material management to minimize storage at the job site. It utilized just-in-time deliveries to install switchgear as soon as they became available. Bergelectric’s ability to improvise and find creative solutions throughout the project became crucial in bringing Mueller Bravo across the finish line.
